The router sends queries to the RobX DNS server over DNS-over-HTTPS with the node key. Commands for MikroTik, Keenetic and OpenWrt are in the node window.

Two ways to block what does not belong: a DNS server for the whole school network and an agent on every computer. Rules are policies by category and your own lists; instead of an error — a “Site blocked” page.

Computers with the agent
When the network cannot be redirected, RobX Agent is installed on the computer and becomes its DNS. An installer with the organisation key, silent install for a whole class.
Policies
Catalogue categories, your own sites and a ban on “secure DNS” in browsers. A default policy and its own one for every node and computer.
“Site blocked” page
Instead of an error the student sees that the site is blocked, a fact of the day and learning sites. On a computer with the agent the page opens over https too.
What the school knows
A filter must not be a black box: you see what is connected, what is blocked and why.
- Server unavailable — sites open without the filter: the school does not lose the internet because of our outage, and the account shows “no filter”.
- Internal names are left alone: the school domain, .local and dotless names always go to the school’s previous DNS.
- Status in the account: “My school” → “Content filtering”: network nodes and computers as rows, seats by plan.
- Requests: a school member suggests opening or blocking a site with “Suggest a site”, the platform admin reviews it.
- A computer with the agent is also a device: CPU load, memory and disk are visible in “My devices”.

Questions
What happens if the RobX server is unavailable?
Sites open without the filter and the account shows a “no filter” mark. The school does not lose the internet because of our outage — that is the customer’s decision.
Do I need to install anything on phones?
No. Phones and tablets on the school network are filtered by the router. The agent is for computers that leave the school network or where the network cannot be redirected.
Does the “Site blocked” page show over https?
On a computer with the agent — yes: the agent serves the page with its own root certificate. On the school network without the agent the browser shows a certificate error over https and the page over http.
Can one site be opened for one class only?
Yes. Every network node and computer has its own policy, plus its own categories and sites on top.
Which plan includes filtering?
“Basic” and “Pro”. In “Start” it is optional: in the plan builder on the home page the module adds 100 ₽ per student per year.
